This past Friday, I continued to get my good on! The idea all started out one day, when I visited the local elementary school,and helped out with a 2nd grade field trip! - How did you celebrate Global Youth Service Day?
- Last year for GYSD, I worked with my local volunteer center, doing a variety of different projects. We did everything such as working at a local senior citizen home & playing games with them, also a revitalization project with a low income neighborhood, which included planting plants, and repainting things. We also did many of other projects.
- If you were the mayor, what changes would you make in your community?
- If I were mayor, I would have a youth advisory board. My community doesn't really have any councils for youth only, besides our local volunteer center. I would allow more youth volunteer projects, because so many agencies only allow adults. I would also make everything more eco-friendly, making every school recycle. Also, I would allow more tutoring programs in the schools, because I think more people are apt to get tutored by a peer or friend if they need help with schoolwork.
- What are the 7 Things or problems in the world you want to help solve?
- 7 things or problems in the world I would change would be, Feeding the Hungry, enforce the no-child left behind act in all schools, make everything eco-friendly, provide literacy training to Elementary kids, because I think middle school is to late, Educate on Culture/Sensitivity, make sure every animal has food&water, and try and educate kids how to plant food in their own gardens.

- I love volunteering& it is a huge passion of mine!!!! I have been an active volunteer in my community for the past 7 years. I have also volunteered with our local Salvation Army, homeless shelters, Red Cross, etc. I also got the chance to serve as an AmeriCorps VISTA at our local Volunteer Center. I have participated in the Youth Service of America volunteering conference for the past two years in Orlando,and Washington D.C, and am an active volunteer for our local volunteer center, in planning GYSD activities(which is a lead agency for GYSD).I also attended Americas Promise for the past two years & the national volunteering conferences. I love this site, and I believe if more famous people. such as, Miley Cyrus, were such involved with making our communities a better place, we would have much more younger youth involved in volunteering, and less poverty.

Miley Cyrus concert in Birmingham, AL!!!!! 10/23/09

This past Friday night, I got an amazing opportunity to attend the Miley Cyrus concert in Birmingham, AL!!!! I found out the day before that I was chosen by Youth Service America, and Get Ur Good On, to not only attend the concert, but, also the "Meet&Greet" with Miley!!!!! I was SOOOO excited!!!!!
