So a few weeks ago I was invited to a dinner with the local school districts. I was like, okay whatever this will be nice to talk to people I like these kind of events. I had no idea what I was there for. When I got there I saw a name tag for my parents. I kinda freaked out a bit, I was like shoot was I supposed to invite them? At the same time I was happy to be there alone, I felt grown up and like I had distinguished my life away from my parents. I quickly made up an excuse of why they…See More

Profile Information

How did you celebrate Global Youth Service Day?
For 2012 GYSD I would like my school district to do something for the very first time! As President of Student Government, I plan on arranging a community wide event involving kids of all ages.
If you were the mayor, what changes would you make in your community?
In my community, if I were the mayor, I would make a "teen center" where teens and kids could hang out instead of our town square where we are frowned upon (for some reason). I would also have more community wide events. Where the whole community could bond. Most of our town's events are done by churches meaning not all attend or our whole community events are few and far between. It doesn't have to be a huge production, something simple, involving family time, friend time, local businesses, and raising money for a cause that is in need at the time. For example) have a monthly family cookout [during the warmer months of course] on the green with local music, local restaurants, and possibly have the Red Cross there taking blood donations, and if you donate blood, you get free food! That would be a hit in my community!
What are the 7 Things or problems in the world you want to help solve?
1) End world hunger
2) Peace on earth (we may need a ton of help on that one)
3) Save neglected or abused children and give them love.
4) Bring hope to children in hospitals having to deal with diseases. (Cure for cancer!?!)
5) Getting clean water to everyone.
6) School bullies, mean websites.
7) Homelessness
Short "About Me" section
Hi! My name is Dina, I'm 17 years old and a senior in high school. The reason I get up in the morning to go to school is because when I get home that day, I know, I have made a difference in some one's life by what I did for them that day. I am President of Student Government, our Community Youth Advisory Board, Junior Achievement, a Girl Scout, and a girl who loves her family & friends! PEACE :)

Slipping through my fingers all the time...

Posted on March 29, 2010 at 1:31am 0 Comments

My days start early and end late, but where does all this time go? Last time I checked it was my first day of sixth grade- now I'm in what- 10th grade? It's not that I'm wasting my time, because I am most defiantly not, it's just that I feel everything is happening to quickly! I spent a lot of my childhood acting older then my age, more grownup, always wishing to be older. Now that I am, I wish I hadn't spent that time wishing I were older, but rather capturing every minute and the feeling in… Continue

Why should U Get Ur Good On?

Posted on January 29, 2010 at 3:44pm 0 Comments

For the youth of America and around the world there are numerous reasons why young people should do good for their community and around the world. (I'm actually writing a speech on this for English this week! When I'm done, I'll post it! I have statistics, facts, and everything!) We, as the youth, are the world's future. In about twenty years, all the things we now see as "foreign concepts" of politics and major decisions are in our generations hands. For those of you that read this, you have… Continue

Hiii!
Meeting Miley was amazing she was so sweet and humble. I was not nervous at all I never do haha. She was comfortable to be around and talk to. She was sick the day I met her so she had to reserve her voice but the concert was spectacular. The seats I got were amazing. You're going to have a blast. Have fun meeting her on Sunday!
