working on my girl scout golden award! I'm raising money to build a park for an elementary school that doesn't have one.
back in 2008 (i believe) it got burned down, now all they have is a slide and swing set. they deserve and desire so much more.

I have thought of some ways that we can help out in our communuties. I haven't ever done this but some friesnds of mine recently volunteered at the local food bank. They stocked shelves and they said it was a lot of fun! I am thinking of volunteering at the SPCA this week. I have no idea what they will have me do but I'm looking forward to finding out. I will make a blog about how it went.

Hello fellow bloggers! Happy Summer! Less than one month till college. Wahooo. Speaking of college I recently went on a 4 day service retreat for freshman at my college. It was really awesome. One day each small group visited three service sites around the city. My group went to a local church, something similar to a YMCA, and catholic social services which works with families who have visitation hours and watch over them during their weekly meetings. It was really nice when we all got back… Continue

Not gonna lie, I've never been the poster child for volunteering and doing great things. In fact, I'm far from that poster child. But I have recently been inspired to do my part and start finding ways to volunteer around my community and donate to my favorite charities regularly (there's so many out there its really hard not to find one you feel strongly about.) I honestly believe theres a way for everyone to help impact our world for the good. And theres so many ways to volunteer and give that… Continue

I always wanted to be voluntary, now almost 22 years and graduated in Business Administration, I know how important it is for any human being, a volunteer activity. Be on the environmental or social anyone needs to look a little to others and the environment around them, and try, in one way or another, contribute to both can share learnings. I live in a small town, but my metropolitan state. I live in a rural part, where there are many small and simple farms, where people who live there, people… Continue

At my high school we have a club called Kids Against Cancer. We have meetings to set up programs including raffles, toy drives, etc. This year we are having pink day where the whole school is going to dress in pink in support of people who are fighting breast cancer, and their bravery and strength. We as a group of teenagers enjoy helping people, if we know them or not. Knowing, we as teens, no matter how young, in a large world can help the world become a better place, and we as individuals in… Continue

Since i was 5 years old i have been working at an old age home. I enjoy every minute when i am there. They treat the residents so well and everyone is so lovely there. I will be volunteering there every opportunity i get. The elderly that live there are amazing and strong people. They love when i come to visit them, to play games, color, and talk with them. I am not sure who enjoys the time I spend there more, me or the residents!!!! The families of the residents are always there visiting them,… Continue

It’s the season of giving, and the perfect time to Get Ur Good On!! I <3 volunteering with my family and you can ask your family to join you when you Get Ur Good On. Remember guys, you’re never too young to inspire other people to do good. Ask them to come with you to pack food at a local food bank. Maybe, they can help you volunteer at an animal rescue shelter or with a Habitat for Humanity project. And don’t forget to let me know what you’re doing by uploading your pics, videos, and… Continue

My name is Kristen and some of my friends just call me "K". I am an active youth volunteer in our community doing mainly charity work and helping out and teaching young kids to read and write. Been doing my term papers lately and I chose the topic of volunteerism and humanitarian work. I think not so many are aware that even in their own little way, they can help solve the problems in their neighborhood. =)

I recently stayed after school & helped my teacher decorate pillow cases for kids in the hospital who were my age. We spent about an hour, decorating. I could've been with my friends, or playing outside. But I picked to help with decorating. I really thought about it, just by decorating a pillow case CAN put a smile on a kids face! A little gift may mean NOTHING to you. But to a sick kid, it could mean everything! It is just ONE out of the many examples of getting your good on. Volunteering… Continue

I've always loved the first of every month. It feels like it's a fresh start and as lame as this sounds, I always make little resolutions of something to do every month. This month, I think we should all do some community service. Every Friday since freshmen year, I've done community serivce. No you don't get paid, but it's rewarding helping others.
Here are some ideas of where you can volunteer:

This Halloween is going to be very special for me. From 11am - 1pm I am volunteering at a fall family festival for little children, and well...obviously family. I will be helping the children make scarecrows, crafts, and also help entertain the little pre-schoolers. I get service hours, a certificate, and just the plain ol' feeling of feeling good about yourself :). Also, later when I go trick-or-treating I am going to be collecting money for UNICEF. If any of you out… Continue
