working on my girl scout golden award! I'm raising money to build a park for an elementary school that doesn't have one.

back in 2008 (i believe) it got burned down, now all they have is a slide and swing set. they deserve and desire so much more.

I have thought of some ways that we can help out in our communuties. I haven't ever done this but some friesnds of mine recently volunteered at the local food bank. They stocked shelves and they said it was a lot of fun! I am thinking of volunteering at the SPCA this week. I have no idea what they will have me do but I'm looking forward to finding out. I will make a blog about how it went.

At my high school we have a club called Kids Against Cancer. We have meetings to set up programs including raffles, toy drives, etc. This year we are having pink day where the whole school is going to dress in pink in support of people who are fighting breast cancer, and their bravery and strength. Since i was 5 years old i have been working at an old age home. I enjoy every minute when i am there. They treat the residents so well and everyone is so lovely there. I will be volunteering there every opportunity i get. The elderly that live there are amazing and strong people. They love when i come to visit them, to play games, color, and talk with them. My name is Kristen and some of my friends just call me "K". I am an active youth volunteer in our community doing mainly charity work and helping out and teaching young kids to read and write. Been doing my term papers lately and I chose the topic of volunteerism and humanitarian work. I think not so many are aware that even in their own little way, they can help solve the problems in their neighborhood. =)

I can do a walk for a homeless shelter. I can organize a toy drive for the salvation arny. I can also help by picking up garbage where i live and also share my lunch at school if someone forgot there's or hasn't eatin yet

I recently stayed after school & helped my teacher decorate pillow cases for kids in the hospital who were my age. We spent about an hour, decorating. I could've been with my friends, or playing outside. But I picked to help with decorating. I really thought about it, just by decorating a pillow case CAN put a smile on a kids face!
