I really hurt my knee in class doing a super cool dance move called THE COFFEE GRINDER. I have done it before. My knee went lower then it was suppoed to while I was rotating and I banged it. It has a big bruise. Weird, I found two crutches in the trash today. Brand new. So I may need to use those in class tomorrow. Hopefully not. I am supposed to have tap class tomorrow after school.
I applied for the scholarship online. It was hard. I had to research city officials. I put down the mayor and vice mayor of the city I want to do the awareness show in. I thought they are close so they mite come. Also, I asked a CAO at the school board. I thought maybe he would see how important the arts are and keep art programs in school. I really hope he comes. There are no dance programs in teh regular schools. Unless you get into a art school (which is hard), or your parents have money for private classes then you can not do it. Like my sister. She plays French Horn. But her middle school dropped band. They locked all the instruments in the closet and use the room for in-school suspension. So now instead of art she files paper and organizes mail in the office. Seriously, that is her class. She had the choice of that or gym. She has been trying to get into an art school, but she practices at home so its hard.
I am lucky my dance theater works with my dad on my costs. I am there 5-6 days out of the week. I should write them a christmas card thank you.
Also, besides doing research on city officials you need to do a budget. You need to name the project. Explain the purpose, get volunteers. Lucky I already have volunteers. I had to get contact information from my dance teacher too. It was hard work. Like doing a science project. Like research, predicting results, charts. If I get it I will still need to make flyers, contact my old drama teacher, and write letters to the mayer, vice mayor, school board CAO and letters to newspapers.
I will keep things posted.
