Knowing someone or being someone whose life has been affected by breast cancer can take its toll on physical and mental health. Breast cancer is an awful disease and awareness plays a key role in early detection. To help spread breast cancer awareness throughout my town, I decided to create my own t-shirts to sell. After careful deliberation, I drew a ribbon design I could imagine people wearing and researched various t-shirt companies.
I also decided to add “Don’t quit.” to my t-shirts because I feel the two words together are very powerful. People should never give up on anything they’re trying to accomplish. Whether it’s fighting breast cancer or helping someone through it, never quit.
I finally found a t-shirt company that could produce what I wanted and had a price I could afford. When the t-shirts arrived, my family members and I wore them to our different activities throughout the day, explaining my project. I’ve been selling the t-shirts, trying to spread the word about breast cancer awareness, and I’m going to donate the proceeds to a local breast cancer charity.
Regular mammograms are an effective way to monitor the early signs of breast cancer. Women aren’t the only ones susceptible to breast cancer, though; men can get it too. About 1-2% of all breast cancer cases are men’s. Any project, large or small, spreading the word and doing something to help are outstanding ways to Get Ur Good On.
