The holidays are a time for family and friends to come together and bring joy to each other. Today in school we were talking about how a lot of elderly people in the community don't have any family and friends around and the holidays can get pretty lonely for them. My class decided we should devote one day next week to making cards for the elderly in nursing homes. These cards don't have to be anything fancy. Just say something like Happy Holidays with a nice message and a pretty drawing inside. These can make someone feel a million times better.
Tomorrow suggest to your class or a group of friends about making holiday cards one day. Then gather some construction paper, scissors, markers, crayons, colored pencils, pens, pencils, glue, glitter, and go crazy making holiday cards. When you're done bring them to a local nursing home and ask whoever is in charge if you can distribute them around to the senior citizens. The look on their faces when they receive their holiday card will be priceless. =]
