Being An Engineer!

Engineering is the art of organizing and directing men and controlling the forces and materials of nature for the benefit of the human.

As i am a civil engineer, i think engineering is a great profession because there is the satisfaction of watching a figment of the imagination emerge through the aid of science to plan on a paper.Then it moves to realization in stone or metal or energy.Then it brings home to many people.Then it elevates the standard of living and adds to the comforts of life.And i believe that this is the engineers' high privilege.And engineers participate in the activities which make the resources of nature available in a form beneficial to people and provide systems which will perform optimally and economically. I can still remember when i was reading in BUET (a very great university for engineers in bangladesh!), my friends used to tease me by calling me a math geek because i used to do maths very often as it was my favourite subject and i was pretty good at it too.But now when my friends see me,they tell me that i'm a brilliant engineer. This sounded nice to me but still i requested to my friends to take back this compliment because is i am a brilliant engineer then why buildings are being destroyed in a simple earthquake?Why nearly everyday many people are losing their lives for our wrong building designs and weal building structure?Do you have an answer?Do we have an answer? Actually, I do. I think in all of these situations we are the main villain!And I think it is absolutely correct because if we had been a little more careful while designing a building structure or while building one,then we could have saved many peoples' life.

Honestly,i believe our country(Bangladesh) is not less than any other developed countries like U.S.A,U.K,Canada etc. Then why their countries are much more developed than ours? All we need is to do our jobs or works with honesty and hardworking.I know that we cannot succeed in one year but why not give it a try?I know that i will try because the surest way not to fail is to determine to succeed!

And i believe that the world is in danger,not because of the people who are evil but because of the people who don't do anything about it.And i am pretty much sure that we don't want to be one of those people who are irresponsible.So, i would like to suggest "Wake up! And take charge!!"
