Living Life to the Fullest!!!

It's been a while since I've posted a blog; with school, soccer, auditions and working on a new safety program for my school district ... I haven't had a lot of spare time. I have been thinking alot about my 8yr. old friend, Kourtney, who had her mutli-organ transplant on July 23rd but went into acute rejection about 2 weeks ago and now she needs new organs asap!!! Kourtney has endured so much suffering and pain throughout her entire life and the transplant is supposed to change all that, yet, here she is again ... waiting for new organs so she can continue to live! She actually looks pretty good but I know that her situation is extremely critical. Kourt has been in PICU since her 1st transplant which I can't even imagine laying in a bed for that long! In her picture, she has pink extensions that she requested last week as her attitude is still so amazing and full of life!!! Kourtney can't really sit up as her belly is still open from the original transplant as she got a new small and large bowel and a pancreas but they are dying inside her. The doctors are holding on as long as they can to keep them in or she will go into liver failure, too! It's just very sad! Kourtney inspires me to live my 'life to the fullest' as her attitude, her spirit, no matter how much pain she is in and no matter how much she has endured since she was born ... she wants to LIVE and be normal, be able to eat foods and to play soccer or dance or just go to school ... be pain free!!! My friend, Chase Ellison, star of "Tooth Fairy" helped make a 'get well' video message as he met Kourt at the screening of his film back in January. I appreciate Chase helping to put a smile on the face of the bravest, most amazing girl I have ever known!!! You can follow Kourt's story and be friends on FB (KourtsKrew)!!!
