Hey everyone!
This holiday season I decided I wanted to lead a service project to benefit cancer research. So I created a Facebook event page and put up flyers in my hometown advertising scarves that I knit and sold for $6.00 each. A ton of people put orders in and contributed to the cause; it was a huge success! It's not quite over yet, because people are still picking up their scarves to this day. It's fizzling down and I'll be dropping off the check to Dana Farber soon, and I'm really proud of what I did. It was stressful and a lot of work, but now that it's almost over I'm so glad I did it. It really helped me to see the point of community service. I was stressed about each scarf coming out perfectly (long enough, no mistakes, etc) but in the end I realized that people didn't care how pretty the scarves were, they were excited about donating to the cause! And that's what feels so great. I got people to feel good about donating money, because they realize that kids really can make a difference!
