World Blood Donor Day is almost here!

Hi Get Ur Good On community!!!! I’m really excited about the great things I have coming up this summer. And one thing I’m really excited about is helping Lizzie Bell spread the word about World Blood Donor Day (WBDD) on June 14^th. Lizzie and I are both Red Cross Ambassadors and we are encouraging anyone over the age of 17 that can donate blood to donate on June 14^th. If you’re not old enough to donate, please ask people you know that are old enough to donate blood on WBDD. My GOOD for Global Youth Service Day 2010

This Global Youth Service Day, I got my good on with the Make-A-Wish Foundation by participating in their very first World Wish Day celebration at The Grove in Los
Angeles. I had such a good time!
The Make-A-Wish Foundation makes dreams come true by granting special wishes to
children with life-threatening medical conditions. They help bring hope,
strength and joy throughout the United
States and in
36 more countries around the world. They told me they’re up to over 240,000
wishes granted to date! I'm so happy I could be a part of this and I've granted
about 105 wishes through Make-A-Wish now. On World Wish Day, I met with 30 of
the greatest kids from all over the globe and did a special performance of "The
Climb" for them- check it out my newest video upload!

10 Ways to Get Ur Good On this Summer!

Youth Service America and Miley want you to do some GOOD this summer. I listed 10 ways that you can Get Ur Good On and I want to hear from you too. Read my blog for the June blog topic of the month and write about how you're going to do good this summer. Tag your blogs "GoodSummer." Here are some ideas to get you started:

1. Ask your friends and family to help you set up a lemonade stand and donate the

money you make to Alex’s Lemonade Stand. When she was 1 year-old, Alex Scott was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a type of childhood cancer. At 4 years-old, she set up a lemonade stand to raise money for childhood cancer research and it became an annual tradition. 2.Ask your neighbor if they’re going on vacation this summer and offer to pet-sit for free.

3.If you are a certified lifeguard, offer to volunteer at your local YMCA a few days a week. Search for your local YMCA on their site: YMCA locations

4.Hurricane season begins this week. Research information about disaster relief and preparedness and share it with people in your life. If you live in an area that experiences hurricanes, make a disaster relief kit or make sure you have everything you need in the one you already have. 5. If you are at least 17 years-old, donate blood on World Blood Donor Day (WBDD) on June 14^th. Learn more about WBDD on the Good Projects page: Good Projects page

6. Get World Cup Fever! Support your city’s homeless street soccer team by cheering them on and preparing them for the Street Soccer USA Cup (July 30 - August 1). http://www.streetsoccerusa.org/. You can also host a drive to collect soccer accessories like soccer balls,cleats, or shin pads. Donate the goods you collect to Soccer Without Borders: http://www.soccerdreamswithoutborders.org/donate.htm

7. If you have any elderly neighbors, offer to mow their lawn, help them with their gardening, or help them during their next trip to the grocery store.

8. It’s warm, so people will be wearing open toed shoes and they want to have pretty toes. Give pedicures to residents at a nursing home or shelter.

9. When you pull out your

warm-weather clothes, donate items that don’t fit you anymore to your local Goodwill

or Salvation Army. Search their sites to find out which Goodwill or Salvation Army you can donate to.

10. Help promote literacy and Summer reading! Find an organization in

your community that would like

to receive books donations. Register the organization with First Book, an organization that provides books to children in need: Registration

Young People are the future

ABUSE

People say young people, nowadays, cannot help it but being rude and not caring about what happens around them. And, if you dare, I do not agree, at all.

Young people have problems because of the society.

That's it.

Young people aren't supposed to be blamed for how the society has changed

in a worse way, during the past years.

Like someone used to say,

we are not against the society,

the society is against us.

Young people like us just wish for a better world to come,

'cause we CAN'T STAND CHILDREN ABUSE

'cause we CAN'T STAND ANIMAL ABUSE

'cause we can't stand older people not believing in us

and acting like if we "still have to grow up to understand".

There's nothing to understand, here!

It is all so clear, as anyone can see.

WE CANNOT STAND

POLICE

HITTING US

WHEN WE'RE

PEACEFULLY

ASKING SOMETHING

BETTER

FOR SCHOOL,

WORK,

ORPHANS.

WE JUST CAN'T

STAND

AT ALL

'To being called "without a future"

just because we fight against

children & animal abuse, and

because we just ask for

A FUTURE.

I am not so sure about what's going on in the

other countries of the world.

But here, in Italy, important people are making

"laws"

and stupid things just

to take the money away from schools

and students don't have the money

for school trips, computers,

projects

and, in some high schools,

everytime we find a blackboard eraser

or even some chalk,

we act like if it'll be the last chalk we'll use

for the rest of the school year.

Do you want to know how WE "WITHOUT-FUTURE" YOUNG PEOPLE call this?

We call it ABUSE.

That's the reason why we don't go to school to organize public events

where we just ask some attention from the people who rule in this dumb nation called ITALY!

WE DO HAVE A FUTURE

IF YOU ONLY LET US

DRAW IT

WITH OUR HANDS.

I just wanted to let everybody know what's going on in Italy and that young people don't deserve to being hit from the police during peaceful events or just because they're gay and they've got open minds.

YOUNG PEOPLE ARE THE FUTURE.

JUST LET US MAKE IT BETTER!

Pennies for Peace

Don't be afraid to make a difference. To give compassion and love to others by giving pennies for peace.

Peace will give us hope for a better and brighter future.

Terrorism is done out of fear. They have fear from ignorance, not having an
education, which breeds into hatred. Not understanding the world around
them, not knowing the people around them. We hate what we don't
understand.

If people listen more to other people's needs, build relationships with
people as friends and perhaps even family's, and respect all people around the
world as equals this world will someday be a world of peace.

Too many people are racist, thinking their race is better than someone else
race. People become racist out of ignorance and fear. If people knew
more about other people, it they understood others, there wouldn't be
so much hatred in this world.

People tend to think of the world as scattered puzzle pieces. Separated by
ethnic groups, religions, and other barrier, people build up those walls in order to stop peace.

We should think of the world as a whole. All human beings that have hopes, dreams and goals. Some of them even the same.

It is a beautiful thing seeing children reach out to other children half
way around the world by pennies. Children aren't born racist, it is
taught. Don't teach them to be racist, teach them peace.

In the USA a penny is 1/100, .01, 1% of a dollar. It is essentially
worthless, but in the Central Asia, and places like Pakistan, and Afghanistan
1 penny can buy a pencil. Many pennies(more like 2,000,000 pennies take or give 500,000 pennies) can build a school.

In the USA school is a requirement. By law children have to go to school. Some of us would rather not go to school.

In Pakistan school is a privilege. Children want to learn and go to
school. Just like any human, children have dreams, and they will stay
only dreams unless if they have an education.

To give a person education, the knowledge and opportunities to obtain their dreams, is a wonderful thing.

1 penny can help a child reach for their dreams.

1 penny can spread peace, dreams, hope all around the world.

Children in Pakistan are sitting on the ground, often in freezing weather, mostly without a book or a pencil, are learning with a teacher that only come 3 days a week with no classroom. Kids sitting quietly doing
work with no teacher. Most of all, they use sticks to write their work out
in the dirt. If they are lucky, they dip their stick in mud and write on a flat rock.

The teacher only comes 3 days a week because they cannot afford the teacher's salary every day.
That salary? A mere $1.

Kids need our help badly and we can give it to them. All it takes is a penny.

School’s probably almost out for most of you and you are getting to enjoy the Summer. You may get a break from school, but we don't want you to take a break from doing good! So what will you do? Are you going to baby-sit free of charge, be a volunteer lifeguard, go on a missions trip, or maybe host a lemonade sale and donate your earnings to a charity? Service Project With Miley

I think that there are many different things that i would enjoy doing with Miley. Anything that helps out would be great. However, I think that the all time best service project to participate in with Miley Cyrus would be to create a campaign, with the permission of a certain charity, and help raise money and do things for that charity. I think that this would be extremely beneficial because it helps a lot of people by raising awareness to a bigger problem in the world, country, or city. If people knew more i think that it would help to inspire them to contribute or help out.

I honestly think that Miley Cyrus is a truly inspirational person and even if i don't win the contest, I'm sure the project the winner and Miley do will be great.

I shaved my head, and raised money for childrens cancer!!

A few weeks at my school, we had an event called St. Baldrick's and people can raise money for the children who have cancer, and also, if they have 10 or more inches of hair, they may donate it to locks of love. I donated 13 inches of hair, shaved the rest to honour the kids who have cancer, and raised about $100.

When i first knew about this page, was because i saw Miley's video talking about it.
So, i got in here,, i thought it was just a normal page, but then i started reading people's posts, watching the photos, watching the videos and what i thought in that moment was "this is more than a simple web site, this is an awesome way to help people from your own computer" i thought it was amazing!,,
And now i'm gonna have to admit, i'm addicted to GetUrGoodOn!
haha it's so amazing what you can do just with the simple fact of signing in,, you can actually HELP people who really needs it!.. No matter where you come from, where you live, or where you ARE at the moment,, it's all right here, at GetUrGoodOn!! <3
